I appreciate your comment -- there is so much learning that comes with this, that I find myself relying quite a bit on others' experiences. Thank you for sharing this info!Shellihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04533995997196611261noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8700350244540803490.post-5928544954934125812009-03-11T02:20:00.000-07:002009-03-11T02:20:00.000-07:00This has become almost normal for me: 4 hours'...This has become almost normal for me: 4 hours' sleep, wake up feeling decent, but not particularly energetic, and then up for 2 or 3 hours before falling back asleep for another 4 hours or so & wake up feeling typically CFS-y, which those reading this who have this will probably understand.

It's a cycle that I've tried to break at various times over the years, but it's the one that I find myself in most of the time, and 8 hours is better than 4, for all the times I've pushed myself to stay awake on 4, or 5, or 6 hours, so that I'll get 'a good night's sleep' the following night.

Sometimes the tossing & turning to get back to sleep is frustrating, yes. The best approach, I've found, is to let sleeplessness, no matter when it occurs, run its course, and to do everything in my power to not be anxious about it. Even if I have a full day ahead of me, even 1 or 2 hours' sleep and no anxiety is better than getting all worked up about it, regardless if I get an extra hour or two. Reading generally tires me out, so sometimes that's an effective sedative.

I'm not sure that 'a good night's sleep' is as important as so many insist it is, but it makes sense. I rarely get one. It's usually 4 asleep, 2-3 awake, and then a very tiring 4 that leave me with that 'unrefreshing sleep' we read about.

This whole thing sucks, doesn't it?Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15859555876056422427noreply@blogger.com
